Sarvar Spa and Wellness
IMI Hydronic Engineering' specialists helped to increase the efficiency of the existing systems in one of Europe's leading spa and wellness centres.
The Hydronic Challenge
The "Sarvar Spa & Wellness Centre" is one of Europe's leading spa and wellness centres. It was awarded 1st prize by the Hungarian Wellness Association and has been selected as a member of "The Royal Spas of Europe" owing to the outstanding quality of its Spa and Hotel facilities. The centre was first built in 2002 and since 2004 it welcomes approximately 500 000 visitors each year with up to 4800 visitors per day during peak season.
The owner first approached IMI Hydronic Engineering specialists in 2008 to discuss all options for increasing the efficiency of the existing systems and also to share their plans for developing the centre even further.
Following initial discussions, IMI Hydronic Engineering set about analyzing the existing system, reviewing the available options to increase operational efficiency and calculating the potential energy savings that could be achieved. To meet the requirements of the Spa, the optimal hydronic solution involved a significant upgrade of the heating system using state of the art technology, improved temperature control and the use of waste energy whenever the spa is closed.
The results are impressive: 26% saving in gas consumption and 13% saving in electricity consumption! Given the success of this renovation, a similar Hydronic solution will be selected for the expansion of the Spa & Wellness Centre, to be completed in 2011.
