Zelené Vlčince

This residential project Zelené Vlčince is in Žilina, Slovakia, and consists of several new residential buildings.
The buildings have many 1 to 5-room flats ranging from 29 m² to 126+ m² and spacious terraces. The team was able to win this challenging project thanks to its long-term cooperation with the HVAC designer who was thoroughly impressed by IMI’s AFC Technology in the past.

The main challenge is the apartments’ size difference, as they would all have very different flow and heating needs. The thermostatic control system needed to be flexible, energy-efficient, easy to use and responsive to system adaptations tailored to the various spaces.

Due to the project’s challenge due to the size of the buildings and the variety of home sizes, the project’s HVAC designer reached out to seek a solution using our AFC technology. Along with our technical and design team, an elegant AFC solution was chosen, using a range of products from our Eclipse range.

The solution included Eclipse valves and Eclipse inserts in the heating radiators. Combining these two products with AFC technology enables setting a required flow in heating systems; as soon as the maximum flow is set, it cannot be exceeded even when opening or closing any other loops. Eclipse valves and inserts can work with a pressure loss of up to 60 kPa they eliminate the need to use differential pressure controllers or balancing valves for heating systems.

This solution allows for the accurate management of flow, allowing residents to have the perfect indoor environment regardless of their home’s size; the control of flow enabled by AFC technology and the Eclipse range also provides for an energy savings system functioning at an optimal level.
