Millenium Tower II Balanced hydronic system provides energy savings and comfortable indoor climate in new office development.

The challenge
The prestigious office development Millennium Tower II is situated in the heart of the Millennium City Center in Budapest. The building provides 18,000 square metres of office spaces for various businesses.
The customer required a reliable partner for the design and balancing of the hydronic system as part of the overall heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. A fully controllable hydronic system would provide the desired indoor comfort whilst minimizing energy usage.
The solution
IMI Hydronic Engineering worked closely with the HVAC consultant to specify the most suitable hydronic system. As a result, TA balancing valves, differential pressure controllers and terminal valves (TBV-C) were fitted throughout the building.
The TBV-C ensures accurate hydronic control and optimum throughput over a long period of time. The differential pressure controllers keep the differential pressure constant. The solution chosen for the floor convectors in the heating system was a combination of differential pressure controllers and radiator valves. A balancing procedure was conducted to verify that the design flow is available at each terminal. This fully controllable hydronic system ensures that the HVAC system will provide the desired indoor climate, minimize energy usage and run smoothly for many years to come.
