Marina Bay Sands

IMI Hydronic Engineering successfully delivers cooling system for landmark development in Singapore.

Requirement

The impressive Marina Bay Sands development is the leading business, leisure and entertainment destination in Asia. It features large convention and exhibition facilities, 2,560 hotel rooms and suites, a rooftop SkyPark, a shopping mall, restaurants, a casino and an outdoor event plaza. Its two theatres showcase a range of leading entertainment acts. Completing the line-up of attractions is the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands which plays host to permanent and marquee exhibitions.

The owner of this prestigious project required a partner who would be able to help realise a cooling system delivering the correct cooling power to the entire 2,561 hotel rooms from the first day, and at the same time, could work according to a very tight construction schedule without compromising system performance and operational efficiency.

Solution

Based on successful cooperation with the consultant in several previous projects, TA Hydronic’s experts got involved early on in the design phase. Throughout countless technical discussions, continuous support and multiple calculations using our own software, TA Select, a solution was developed consisting of approximately 3,400 system components, all helping to achieve a well balanced, fully optimised cooling system.

The owner of the development was convinced that this total solution would not only deliver the comfort and operational efficiency that was required, but also give peace of mind to those in charge of the day to day operation. In 2010 the building was opened and the hydronic system is working exactly as intended.
